The pain point
Many rental-block families want their children to learn basic Islam, but cost, crushing schedules and fear of being judged keep them from the mosque.
Who it's for
- Rental-block families
- Volunteer asatizah
- Host households
What it does
A matching board where families, hosts and ARS-recognised asatizah express interest block by block, plus 175 free lessons in English and Malay that you can read, listen to or print.
The story
A collaboration between PERGAS (volunteer asatizah), MTFA (operations) and residents who open their homes. Classes happen in a host's flat at weekends and on some weeknights, so kids never leave the block, and an adult is always present. For children in Singapore's HDB rental blocks. The app shows where classes are needed and gets everyone a reply on WhatsApp. Attendance for teachers is coming next.
Walkthrough
A walkthrough on the Tech Kampung YouTube channel is coming.
